Why I'm interested in Women's Studies

Women's Studies is an important area of study because it allows us to examine and better understand gender roles and their impact in society, past and present. Gives an insight/overview of class and race, topics which in my opinion have not been emphasized sufficiently. It provides a better understanding of women who have contributed and continue to contribute to society, and in this particular case Sociology. Trailing along that thought it is important to highlight the work of these sociologists because it will provide concrete information and it will be accessible to all. A great source for future reference and information. And based on my recent research on several women sociologist there aren't enough sources that provide sufficient information about them and/ or their ideas. Therefore, I see this blog as helping and in some way contributing to the "awareness" and inequality of women to this day.
